Confirmed: No External Storage for Nintendo Wii

Nintendo is looking into solutions for the lack of memory on the Wii, although not with an external hard drive. Laurent Fischer from Nintendo Europe has stated:

“We definitely detect that [gamers] are serious and we know there is an issue in this, so it’s something that we’re working on. Definitely there’s no plan to issue hardware - an external hard drive, but we know that we have an issue in that area. It’s very obvious and we’re perfectly aware of it, but there’s nothing we can say beyond this”

Fischer reiterated Nintendo’s official advice: “You can store your Virtual Console games on an SD card, and also we at Nintendo can store the things for you. So if you delete some of the software you have downloaded it’s no problem to go again to the download process and get the software back for free.”
